Word has it I am too wordy so…
FRIDAY
Did a CBC interview about “Love You to Death”.
Welcomed a new piece of art to our home. It’s by Karen Reiger, and it’s gorgeous. Check the website of the Assiniboia Gallery here in Regina for a peek.
Nursed a grand-daughter (who shall remain nameless) through one of her dramatic but strangely episodic maladies.
Listened as her sister told her she was a diva and a hypochondriac, but nonetheless made her Ichiban and iced tea. Played a game of killer Go Fish with my 4 year old grandson. Did some writing. Had a glass of red wine with our daughter who admired the painting and removed her children.
SATURDAY:
Played with Ted.
Did some writing.
Saw the Met: Live in HD production of ‘Simon Boccanegra’ – absolutely splendid. the Met productions are sublime and we can eat New York fries while we listen.
Entertained the granddaughters for dinner (as we do every Saturday night) – watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer and cut out hearts for our Church School class the next morning. Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows granddaughter is on the mend.
SUNDAY:
Went to church – helped teach the 4 year olds Children’s Liturgy – my 38th year of teaching Anglican children – The lesson was Jesus telling the disciples they must be fishers of all – Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows granddaughter recovers and she and her sister teach the little kids how to glue hearts to a straw and make a flower – tangential theological connection with lesson, but Anglicans are used to that.
Older son’s wife had to work on provincial budget, so he came for lunch with 4 year old son (fresh from our Church School class so ready for theological combat) and our 6 month old granddaughter—watched the endless prelude to the Super-Bowl—played with kids – did some writing. Older son left; younger son and girlfriend arrived. Ordered pizza. Drank beer. Watched Super-Bowl. Happy for New Orleans but sad for me. One of our grandsons is named for Peyton Manning—a gift for his grandmother.
