Yesterday I sent the final edits of “The Nesting Dolls” to my editor at M&S. It was a gruelling ten days, but Dinah knows her stuff, so the manuscript is cleaner and stronger. It’s also OFF MY DESK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here’s what a writer – well this writer does to reward herself for the Sisyphean task of editing 333 pages in a week and a half:
· Play 3 games of “Go Fish” with my grandson while drinking vermouth and watching “The Young and the Restless” . We do this every day, but this time I played, drank and watched without guilt.
· Called an old friend to ask about her manuscript
· Wrote the Dedication and Acknowledgements for “The Nesting Dolls” – I’m superstitious about this. I want to make certain there’s something to dedicate and acknowledge before I start with the flourishes.
· Bought a huge bouquet of mixed red and yellow tulips and a bag of wasabi peanuts.
· Took a nap
· Started reading Renee Fleming’s autobiography
· Cleaned my desk
· Painted my nails “Oh My Magenta” - a shade that Revlon assures me is new for spring
·
Got bored and went back to work on the
next book
