Hotels, and how I met Lady Bird Johnson

The title speaks for itself, even though the dual subjects may seem incongruous on first blush. The full stories follow in this week's newsletter!

We just had lunch with friends who have retired from Aga Khan University after fourteen years of discovering a while new world. Like you and me, they loved their work, but they're treasuring retirement. Enjoy those grandchildren. They really are a joy, aren't they?

Wonderful post! It is a treat to read about some of your memorable hotels and experiences. I have done a lot of travelling for work and pleasure and also have my faves.. I once met Morgan Freeman in Montreal and it was a highlight!

I will take you up on that suggestion! I used to love to write when I was (much) younger and perhaps I will give it a go in retirement! We are all doing well and I wish you and your family continuing health as happiness. Gotta go…I have your new book to read!

Just finishing your wonderful book Sleuth. A wonderful little gem. Have continued to read your books, and have fond memories of attending a writers workshop on Salt Spring Island on Vancouver Island more than ten years ago where you were the writer in residence for 4 days. Notwithstanding you caught me playing truant one evening, you were very kind with your advice and very patient. The workshop wasn't in vain and I recently published Banking on Murder my first novel. I look forward to reading more, as well as publishing my next book.

David, I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Yes, we did receive "Banking on Murder, and Ted and I both enjoyed it very much. Well done! Thank you again for thinking of me and for the generous inscription. Affectionately, Gail
