As my grandchildren each wrestle in their own ways with how the world has changed their plans for Summer 2021, I think back on a time that was simpler in some matters, not so much in others...
I remember my first summer job during summer school at The U of R (Regina)...1981. It was at The Bay and I so wanted to work in the cosmetics department but boys were not allowed to work in the cosmetics department so I was assigned to "Mens Suits"-but it all turned out well. I got to know the Italian ladies who did the alterations in the back and they took me under their wing. I learned Italian, ate Italian and got in on the best gossip of the place. BTW...Gail I LOVE.., LOVE,.. LOVE your blog- please don't stop. Lionel

My career in retail when I was going to high school was working in cosmetics on the main floor at the Bay on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. ❤️

Oh my gosh Gail….I almost wept reading this post. It reminded me so much of my teen years and my retail career while I was in school. Life was so much simpler than. I remember carefully selecting costume jewelry at Simpsons and just feeling so ‘classy’. I loved this post…thank you!
