My grandson also starts kindergarten this year with only two months of preschool experience before lockdown began. I hope his teacher can weave a strong classroom community and his infinite patience! As a newly retired teacher I thank your granddaughter for entering this challenging and important profession. Just finished reading “The Unlocking Season” at my cabin at Fishing Lake and loved it as usual. Thank you!

Lena comes from a family of teachers, both her great-grandparents on Ted's side were teachers, and all four of her grandparents taught university,. I gave her the name plate her grandfather had on his desk: Edwin Bowen, Principal. Lena and I both cried. Like you, I am approaching this new school year with hope and apprehension. Lena loves teaching and she genuinely loves and cares about children. She has a beautiful singing voice; she dances and she plays French horn. We're a tightly knit family, so Lena understands the importance of community. I hope COVID gives all our kids and all ur teachers a chance to shine!
